Welcome

I'm Alex Lubbock, Head of Advanced Research Computing at The Rosalind Franklin Institute. The ARC team builds research software and the compute and data infrastructure that underpin life sciences research and technology development. More details are on my work profile. This is my personal site – views here are my own.

My background is in software development and operations (DevOps) for the life sciences, with expertise in research software and algorithm development, computational modelling, and machine learning. I was previously a Research Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Biochemistry, where my research was in computational systems biology. I have created and/or contributed to several open source projects, including Thunor for analysing high-throughput drug screens of cell proliferation and PySB for computational modelling of cell signalling. For more of my projects, see my GitHub and publications list.

I write about several topics here from my work and side projects, including computational biology, electronics, and fixing IT/sysadmin issues that I've come across.
